Traffic across a railway crossing 

Road users who cross a railway crossing must demonstrate special caution. Traffic across a railway crossing may not occur when it can be seen or heard that a train is approaching. Drivers must adjust their speed so that stopping, if necessary, can occur before the tracks. Crossing the tracks must occur without unnecessary delay.

Item 2. Road users may not cross the railway crossing when:

1. the duty to stop is indicated by the signal,
2. the barrier is closed or while the boom is closing or opening, or
3. the railway staff indicate that a train is approaching.

Item 3. Stopping must occur at an adequate distance from the tracks and before the signal or barrier.

Item 4. Items 1-3 also apply to the crossing of other crossings and to driving on or across tracks that are in roads, berths or similar without being demarcated, however, not to light rail tracks.

Item 5. The Danish Minister of Traffic can set the regulations on which safety measures must be observed when crossing railway crossings with:

1. transportation that is particularly slow or heavy,
2. transportation that exceeds the ordinary regulations for width, length or height that are set pursuant to Section 84, or
3. animals that are being led or herded.
